This is the third poem in Khorshed’s songbook, and the third in the Persian series of Persian poems written by young Merwan with the takhallus or pen-name “Mihrabān”. As with the entire series, this is the only source available and very little is known about it. It bears the number (3), has a pencil check mark on the upper left and ends with a double separation line. The original page has a tear that does not hide any character.
دلم ظاهر بود هر جا جهان آخر بود فانی
خیالت گر بر او باشد چه کرد ای دل تو نه دانی
غم و رنج و الم گر شکر پای دارد نجات آرد
خدا این امتحان از من نمیگیرد ز آسانی
دو روز اندر جهان باشی چرا با عیش و عياشى
چو هستی یاد خالق کن که در دنیا نو مهمان ای
چه کار از مرغ بیشأنت چه کار از لهجتی خوردن
به جا شکر خدا آور چون گیراید تورا نانی
بام عالم چو می آیی به همرایت بود مار گیر
تورا رفتن ضرور آید چون سه صد سال هم مانی
تورا از این و آن قدرت پرور جه آگاهی
که داند تا که تو دانی خیال خالق ثانی
چو خواب این زندگی باشد نه دیدم مهر از دنیا
به بین ای مهربان هر دم بود احسان یزدانی
My heart has appeared everywhere, the world at last is becoming nothing.
If your imagination is based on that, what can it do? You do not know, my heart.
If sorrow, suffering, and pain strengthen gratitude, it brings salvation.
God will not easily grab this test away from me.
You’re in the world two days; why do you remain in pleasure and decadence?
As you exist, recall the Creator, since you are a newcomer in the world.
What use is your worthless bird? What use is eating a tongue?
Come, give thanks to God when he arranges a piece of bread for you.
When you come to the roof of the world, the snake charmer will be your ally.
You must go after you stay for three hundred years.
How aware are you of the all-powerful Preserver?
For he knows, so that you know, a second Creator is a fantasy..
ُُُThis life is but a dream, I’ve seen no mercy in the world.
See how the divine grace is there every moment, Mihraban.
